Antenna testing and performance verification covering key RF parameters and product specifications.
Antenna performance needs to be checked against the agreed specifications before a product is used in a wireless device. Different antenna applications can have different testing requirements, but several RF parameters are commonly used when evaluating an antenna.
KEESUN provides antenna testing and performance verification as part of the product development and production process. Testing can be used for prototype samples, customized antennas and production products.
Typical antenna parameters include frequency range, VSWR, return loss, gain, impedance and polarization. These parameters help confirm whether the antenna is working within the required specification.
Frequency range is used to verify whether the antenna covers the required wireless band. This is particularly important for multi-band products such as 4G LTE, 5G, WiFi and GNSS antennas.
VSWR and return loss provide information about the matching condition between the antenna and RF system. Good impedance matching helps reduce reflected RF power and supports stable operation of the wireless system.
Gain is another important specification. The required gain depends on the application, antenna type and installation environment. An outdoor communication antenna, for example, may have different gain requirements from a compact antenna used inside an electronic device.
Testing is not limited to new product development. Production inspection can also help maintain consistency between batches. Once the product specifications have been confirmed, the same requirements can be used as a reference during manufacturing inspection.
For customized antenna projects, testing can also be combined with sample evaluation. If the antenna is installed inside a customer’s device, the actual installation environment may need to be considered during development.
KEESUN uses the testing stage to confirm product specifications rather than relying only on theoretical antenna design. This provides customers with a clearer understanding of the antenna before it moves into regular production.
